Ex-Nigerian Football Star, Daniel Amokachi’s Younger Brother Murdered In Kaduna


Unknown gunmen today killed the younger brother of ex-Nigerian football star and Super Eagles Assistant Coach, Daniel Amokachi’s younger brother, Tekinbi Emmanuel.

He was killed by suspected gunmen who came on motorcycle bike in front of their Kaduna home, close to the Kaduna Police College.

Husband Accuses Wife of Calling His Mother A Harlot, Wants Divorce


Lagos - A man, Mr Tajudeen Adenekan, 53, on Friday told the Igando Customary Court, Lagos, that his wife, Kuburat, called his mother a harlot, and therefore, sought the dissolution of their 12-year-old marriage.

Adenekan, who has five children by his wife, also alleged that Kuburat unduly accuses him of been infidelity.

Dr. Cletus Akwaya, the Special Assistant for Media and Publicity to the Benue State Governor, was given the beating of his life in the early hours of yesterday by angry youths suspected to be loyal to the estranged husband of a woman he is allegedly having an affair with.

But contrary to the claims of the state Governor, Gabriel Suswam, the attack was neither political nor did Dr. Akwaya suffer any gunshots.

The rising wave of insecurity rocking Bayelsa State, continued, on Thursday, night as two more persons were gunned down at about 7.30 pm, at Erepa area, in Yenagoa, the state capital.

NationalMirror: Lagos Tightens Security Over Bomb Scare - Fashola issues ultimatum on abandoned vehicles


Lagos State Governor Babatunde Fashola has issued a 14-day ultimatum to civil servants to remove all abandoned vehicles within the Alausa Secretariat and other government offices. The move is to strengthen the security around the state secretariat and forestall bombing. The state government has also introduced new letter codes on official number plates and will soon commence the reregistration of all vehicles attached to ministries, departments and agencies, MDAs, to prevent unknown vehicles from entering the secretariat. Security reports by the police revealed that the incessant parking and abandoned vehicles at the old and new Alausa secretariats posed serious security threats.

As the controversy generated by the planned removal of oil subsidy rages, the Federal Government has been accused of insincerity with Nigerians. A legislator, representing Ogun East in the National Assembly, Senator Adegbenga Kaka, said this in Abeokuta yesterday during an interaction with journalists.

The lawmaker also challenged the Federal Government to expose the beneficiaries of the oil subsidy before the debate on the issue. Kaka, who noted that there was no subsidy to be removed, also challenged the government to tell Nigerians why N240bn must be appropriated in this years budget while about N1.3trn had been spent without approval from the National Assembly.

16 killed as buses crash head-on in Nigeria

Authorities say 16 people are dead in Nigeria after two buses crashed head-on into each other on a highway.

Sunday Maku of the Federal Road Safety Commission told The Associated Press on Tuesday that the collision happened after one of the buses tried to overtake another vehicle on the highway. He said the buses crashed in Kogi state in central Nigeria on Monday.

Nine Boko Haram Members Held Over Bloody Attacks At Yobe Over The Weekend -

Security agents are holding nine suspects over weekend’s bombings in Yobe State. The Joint Task Force (JTF) arrested the suspects last night at a secret location in Gujba in the state.

The names of seven of those arrested are: Mohammed Musa Kafinta; Abbana Madu Melle;   Babakura Madu Melle; Ba’ana Barbadus; Madu Melle; Suleiman Umar and Mohammed Ali Waziri.

President Jonathan To Publish List of Terrorists, Sponsors & Deal With Them


NIGERIANS will soon have a list of terrorists and terrorists groups, it was learnt yesterday.

The government will publish the list as part of measures to fight the growing scourge of terrorism.

The activities of Boko Haram have taken an upward swing, leading to killings and disruption of activities in parts of the North, especially the Northeast. There is anxiety in Abuja.
